I will be researching two films,
- The Avengers
- Les Miserables
The Avengers is made up of a lot of marvel heroes, most of which were already existing in the 1900s,
and so, the idea was kind of already there, however with The Avengers it is slightly different, Marvel has already got films for most of the characters featured, so the ideas are there, they now just need to merge them all into one film.
There were many studios that helped to make the film possible. The main one being Marvel Studios, with association with Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.
The owner of Marvel Studios is Kevin Feige, and the owner of Walt Disney Studio Motion Pictures, is Dave Hollis (Vice President)
The films budget was $220 million, and in office had received $1.5 billion.
The films producer was Kevin Feige, also the head of Marvel Studios.
Pre-Production
The script writer for The Avengers was Zak Penn and Joss Whendon, directed by Joss Whendon, and starring multiple people, such as Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans and Mark Ruffalo, along with many others. And it was filmed, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA.
Did you know...They actually had to send out a team of about 20, to take photos of New York in order to re-create the whole of New York in a 3D program, so that they could do whacky explosions. Most of the fight scenes were actually CGI, with the exception of a few where they actually re-made a real life set
Production
Filming took about 2 months to complete, (that's without editing and VFX etc...)
And they used I-MAX 3D Cameras to film.
Post-Production
The film editor was Jeffery Ford and Lisa Lassek and was released in April 11th, 2012.
The avengers had ILM on board (Industry light and magic.) Who are amazing at VFX. They use their own programmed stuff, similar to 3DS Max, and used a lot of stuff like Vray, FumeFX and more.
They used a lot of marketing strategy's, such as Social media, posters, trailers, and adverts.
Film reviews
A review from "Rotten Tomatoes" said that it is the most exciting and enjoyable experience they've had with a film.
Another review said that it was the best action film they'd ever seen
A lot of fans were saying how intense the film was, and how action packed and yet fast it was.
At the box office it made $200 million in the US, and £15million in the UK. And worldwide total it made 1.5 billion. The biggest in to date.
It came out on blue ray on 17th September 2012.
Now that that's done, lets do the movie "Les Miserables"
Development
Based in the late 1980s, on the stage musical. The following studios agreed to produce it, Universal Pictures, Relativity Media, Working title Film, and Cameron Mackintosh Ltd. Universal Pictures (Parent Universal Studios) - is owned by Ronald Meyer. And the film had a set budget of $40 million. The producers of the film were Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner, Debra Hayward and Cameron Mackintosh.
Pre-Production
The script was written by William Nicholson
The director of the film was Tom Hooper
The stars of the film were Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway and Amanda Seyfried.
It was filmed in the UK
The locations used were Chatham Historic Dockyard, Chatham, Kent.
Production
The amount of time it took to film has not ben stated. But I presume, around 2 months, which is average for a film.
The cameras used were apparently by a company named Light. I presume 3D Cameras.
Post-Production
The film was edited by Melanie Ann Oliver and Chris Dickens. Released 5th December in the uk (London Premiere), and 25th December 2012 in the USA.
The special effects used in Les Miserables were mainly used when the characters were singing. To "Flesh out scenes"
Three marketing strategies were Trailers, social media and posters.
It had a total of $1.8 billion in gross.
A lot of the reviews were saying that the film makes you feel intense, and sometimes thrilling by honouring the emotional core. That it's sweeping, well anchored, and is such a clutch.
The blu ray had come out March 22nd, 2013.
